MYE Studio

Mat Pilates Classes in Kelowna

Mat Pilates at MYE Studio is a full-body practice built on control, breath, and precision. Using nothing but your own body weight (plus the occasional ring or resistance band), our Mat Pilates classes build deep core strength, improve posture, and help you move through daily life with more ease. Held right here in Kelowna’s Upper Mission, our classes welcome every level — from your first class to your five-hundredth.

What Is Mat Pilates?

Mat Pilates is the original form of Pilates — no reformer, no machines, just a mat and your body. It blends classical Pilates principles (control, centering, breath) with a focus on core stability, spinal alignment, and functional strength. Because it’s low-impact and fully adjustable, Mat Pilates works for beginners building a foundation and experienced movers looking to refine their practice.

What to Expect in a Class

Every Mat Pilates class at MYE Studio is capped at a small group size so our instructors can actually see you and cue you individually. Classes include a warm-up, a sequence of classical and contemporary Mat Pilates exercises, and a cool-down. Mats, rings, and blocks are provided — just bring water and comfortable clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates?
Mat Pilates uses your body weight and small props like rings and bands, while Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded machine. Mat Pilates is more accessible for beginners and easy to keep practicing outside of class.
What should I bring to a Mat Pilates class?
Just yourself, water, and comfortable clothing you can move in. We provide mats, rings, blocks, and straps.
Do I need Pilates experience to join a Mat Pilates class?
No. Our Mat Pilates classes welcome all levels, and instructors offer modifications throughout. If you’re brand new, we recommend starting with our intro class.
How often should I do Mat Pilates?
Most students see the best results with 2-3 classes per week, though even one class a week builds noticeable core strength and body awareness over time.
